Welcome to Dunleer & District Historical Society

Above is a short film of events through the last 60 years of Dunleer History. This film is a compilation from various sources which are attributed in the first two minutes. For slower connections you can buffer the film by pressing play and then pause. When the light grey bar moves up press play and there will be no buffering delay.

It is hoped that this website will be of interest in our past with particular focus on the Mid-Louth area around Dunleer. While the Dunleer & District Historical Society is a recent formation it is hoped that the Society will grow and develop over time. If you interested in joining us please fill out the 'Contact Us' form or alternatively email the Society: Hon. Secretary D&DHS for further information.

A number of articles and photographs have already been collected through various sources both online and directly resourced. Where or when known, the sources of any documentation will be/are provided.

Please note whenever possible all of our downloadable documents will be provided in adobe format (.pdf). This free program can be downloaded by clicking the icon below:

Please contact the Society if you believe there have been ommisions or oversight through the 'Contact Us' form.

Finally this website is not an intended to be an academic publication instead it is designed for people with an interest in the past of Dunleer and general area. So expect plenty of omissions and errors but again if you believe you have the correct information please do contact me by filling out the 'Contact Us' form.

So please enjoy...Dunleer & District Historial Society
